1. “차붐” 별명의 탄생
독일 팬들은 차범근이 공을 찰 때 나는 ‘쾅!’ 하는 소리를 듣고
그를 ‘차붐(Tscha Bum)’이라고 불렀다.
심지어 경기장 관중들이 슛이 터질 때마다 “붐!” 하고 외쳤다고 한다.
유럽 축구판에서 이런 별명을 가진 아시아 선수는 그가 처음이었다.
2. 맥주집 사건
독일 이적 초기에 팀 동료들이 맥주집에서 회식을 했는데,
차범근은 술을 전혀 못 마셔서 콜라만 마셨다.
그랬더니 동료들이 “넌 축구도 잘하고 술도 안 마시니,
우리 팀 몸관리는 네가 책임져야겠다”며 웃었다는 에피소드가 있다.
3. 군대 명령으로 귀국
독일에서 잘 뛰고 있던 어느 날, 한국에서 군 복무 소집 명령이 떨어졌다.
당시엔 국가 명령을 거부할 수 없어서
이적 계약을 한 팀과 팬들이 모두 깜짝 놀랐다.
결국 귀국 후 군 복무를 마치고 다시 유럽 무대로 돌아갔다.

대표팀 경기에서 4–1로 지고 있던 상황,
마지막 10분을 남기고 차범근이 3골을 몰아쳐 무승부로 만들었다.

5. 부상 복귀전에서의 복수
한 경기에서 거친 태클에 큰 부상을 입어 한 달간 결장했는데,
복귀 후 바로 그 팀과 다시 맞붙게 됐다.
그날 차범근은 결승골을 넣으며 가볍게 복수(?)했고,

은퇴 후에도 그는 고흥에서 ‘FC 차붐’이라는 팀을 만들어
지역 아이들에게 무료로 축구를 가르치고 있다.
아이들이 “차 할아버지”라고 부르며
골 넣으면 서로 하이파이브하는 모습이 보인다.

While thriving in Germany, Cha suddenly received a military service summons from Korea.
At the time, there was no way to refuse a government order,
so his signing club and fans were completely shocked.
He returned home to serve, and only after completing his duty was he able to go back to Europe.

4. A Hat Trick in 5 Minutes
In a national team match, Korea was losing 4–1 with just 10 minutes left.

5. Revenge in the Comeback Match
In one game, a brutal tackle left him seriously injured and sidelined for a month.
When he finally returned, his first match back was by fate against the same team.
That day, Cha scored the winning goal and smiled in the post-game interview, saying,
“The best revenge is with the ball.”
6. The Football Grandpa of Goheung
Even after retirement, Cha Bum-kun stayed in Goheung, Jeollanam-do,
and created a team called FC Cha Boom to teach local kids football for free.
The children call him “Grandpa Cha,”
